Jordin Sparks lands another high-profile gig

Chalk up another high-profile gig for season six American Idol winner Jordin Sparks.

She’s fresh off her Monday appearance in Washington, D.C., singing at the A Capitol Fourth concert televised on PBS.

And today, Major League Baseball announced she’ll sing the national anthem prior to next Wednesday’s All-Star Game in Phoenix.

The game will be televised on FOX, with coverage starting at 8 p.m.

The list of all-star week performers also includes country music star Jason Aldean, the guy who did the “Don’t You Want to Stay” duet with Kelly Clarkson. He’ll perform before Tuesday’s home run derby.

Jordin’s been in the spotlight quite a bit lately. She flashed her slimmed-down bikini body in an issue of People last month.

Before that, she unveiled her new single, “I am Woman,” on an episode of American Idol. I haven’t been able to find the song on the Billboard charts, but it was picked up as a theme song for commercials for the TLC show “Police Woman of Broward County.”

In a recent interview with mlive.com, Jordin said performing on Idol and singing the anthem “are two things that make me really, really nervous.”  She also talked about her new music in that interview, which you can check out here.

And Jordin may be doing more on all-star week than just singing the anthem. One source I read also reported she’ll be playing in the celebrity softball game set for Sunday.
