Back in 2016, Jorge Eduardo competed on Mexico’s version of The Voice and finished in the Top 4.

He didn’t make it quite that far on Season 14, but he says he accomplished a major goal — exposure to a U.S. television audience.

And Jorge says he plans to capitalize on that moving forward.

Jorge, 24 when he auditioned for the show, was born in Mexico, but now resides in the Dallas, Texas, area.

He landed a spot on Team Kelly Clarkson with his blind audition cover of “Despacito,” then won a battle round match with Amber Sauer.

His time on the show ended in a knockout round match against Alexa Cappelli that aired this week. Jorge performed “Adorn.”

Here’s what Jorge told Voice Views about his time on the show and his music moving forward.

Voice Views: I know the knockouts were filmed in early February. What have you been doing musically since then?

Jorge: Well I’ve been writing new stuff since this whole thing started and I really think it helped me as an inspiration. Being able to meet and share with so many artists from around the country and with four recognized music icons is priceless.

I’ve been doing some local gigs here in Dallas and I have new projects in mind. Right now, my focus is collaborating and meeting more producers and make the best album.

Voice Views: Where do you see your time on the show leading you musically? What do you have planned next? Do you think you’ll be releasing new music in the future and, if so, what can fans expect?

Jorge: Mainly it gave me the opportunity to showcase myself in front of America and for that I am really grateful. Now I want to show all those people who supported me some original stuff and blow them away.

Voice Views: What was your favorite performance from The Voice and why?

Jorge: I think I really enjoyed performing “Adorn” by Miguel. I just felt free on stage and unlike my other performances, I was not nervous a lot. I think I enjoyed that one a lot cause I took my time to enjoy being on that stage and being me.

Voice Views: Do you think you grew as an artist as a result of The Voice experience? If so, in what way?

Jorge: Of course. I think any experience helps us grow as individuals. It helped me to realize who I am on a stage and also learned a lot from all the other artist on the competition. It also gave me an insight to the music and TV world in America.
