After American Idol

Joshua Ledet climbs desert heights for his first post-Idol single

weekend marks the release of albums from two former American Idol finalists — Season 7 winner David Cook and Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee.

But let’s not forget that it also marks the release of the first post-show music for a guy who finished third in Season 11.

Three years after his Idol run, Joshua Ledet is finally releasing his first single, a song called “Love Can Do.”

The vocal is outstanding. Of course, what else would you expect from a guy who was clearly the best vocalist in Season 11.

“The song is amazing,” Joshua says in a video you can watch here. “It has such a strong message about love and how people search to find the answer to things, but they never can get there without love being the foundation.”

In fact, judging from his comments, here’s guessing the video shoot proved more challenging for Joshua than singing the song.

Part of the video was shot from a high rocky slope in the desert.

“I felt like a caveman or something, I was climbing so many rocks,” Joshua says. “I’m glad my mom was not there. She would not have allowed that.

“Climbing the rocks was scary, but it was a fun shoot.”

“Love Can Do” hit iTunes Friday, a day earlier than expected. The video, at upper right of course, was released last week.
