Katharine McPhee has been a little busy with TV shows the past few years.
So it’s not surprising we haven’t gotten a new album from American Idol’s Season 5 runner-up since 2010.
But Katharine admitted to Entertainment Weekly in an interview published last week that it was sometimes “frustrating” to wait so long to release new music.
Especially since she started working on her new album while starring in “Smash” on NBC in 2012 and 2013.
Well, the wait is nearly over.
Katharine announced this week that she’ll release “Hysteria” on Sept. 18. She also revealed the album cover art. That’s it at left.
She finished up the album during a filming break from the TV show she’s starring on currently, CBS’ “Scorpion.”
That new album will feature collaborations with Sia, Ryan Tedder and Isabella Summers of Florence and the Machine.
What can fans expect from the album?
Katharine, now 31, told Entertainment Weekly “Hysteria” is a pop album with a “mature vibe” and “old influences.”
Pre-orders are underway now at Amazon and should be underway soon on iTunes.
In the meantime, here’s video of Katharine performing the lead single — “Lick My Lips” — on The Talk. That single is available now.
