Keith Urban named ACM Entertainer of Year

Keith Urban took Entertainer of the Year honors at the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night.

Keith had been nominated for the award eight previous times without winning, a factor that contributed to his heartfelt acceptance speech, he said after the show.

“At some point, you come to accept that the nomination is the award,” the former American Idol judge said.

Keith’s win broke a string of three straight Entertainer of the Year honors for Jason Aldean and came on the heels of his Entertainer of the Year honors at the 2018 Country Music Association Awards in November.

Meanwhile, Miranda Lambert’s string of nine straight Female Vocalist of the Year victories was snapped, but not by Carrie Underwood, who was nominated in the category.

That win went to Kacey Musgraves, who also took album of the year honors for “Golden Hour.”

Danielle Bradbery and Kelly Clarkson had also been nominated for awards, but didn’t win. Former Voice contestant Nicolle Galyon did, as one of three songwriters on Dan + Shay’s “Tequila,” which won single of the year and song of the year honors.
