Well, in terms of prestigious gigs, I imagine this ranks right up there for Kelly Clarkson.

The Obama inauguration team announced this morning that the original Idol would be one of three featured performers at the event.

Kelly will sing “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” during the swearing-in ceremony from the Capitol’s west front.

Also performing there will be James Taylor, singing “America, The Beautiful.”

Beyonce will sing the national anthem at the inauguration, set for Jan. 21.

Congrats to Kelly on her selection.

That’s a pretty sweet way to start 2013.
