In spite of an absolute deluge of Idol-related music releases this year, Kelly Clarkson will have to carry the show’s banner single-handed at the this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Kelly’s video for “My Life Would Suck Without You” is nominated for best female video.
Her competition: Beyonce’s “Single Ladies,” Katy Perry’s “Hot n Cold,” Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face,” Pink’s “So What,” and Taylor Swift’s “You Belong to Me.”
Britney Spears is missing from that list, but it seems like she, Beyonce and Lady Gaga are nominated for awards in almost every category in which they’d be eligible.
The show airs 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, on MTV of course. Voting is under way. Here’s the link you can use to vote in the Best Female Video category.
While we’re on the topic of awards show, don’t forget, the Teen Choice Awards air Monday evening on Fox.
Lots of Idols are up for awards, from Adam Lambert to Carrie Underwood to Simon Cowell. Here’s a link to a list of Idol nominees.
If the Associated Press covers the event, I plan to post photos throughout the evening, so check back for those.
