Kevin and Jacob Miller performed “Lights Up” by Harry Styles. That performance was montaged, meaning viewers see just a couple seconds of it.
Nick Jonas opted to advance Jacob, meaning the end of The Voice journey for Kevin, who had turned two chairs in the blind auditions with a performance of “Home” by Johnnyswim,
Here’s what Kevin, 33, of Arlington Heights, Ill., told Voice Views about that battle, his time on the show and his post-Voice plans.
Voice Views: Since we didn’t get to see the battle on TV, can you tell fans about what they missed and what type of feedback you got?
Kevin: We had a blast performing together. There was great energy and presence. Unfortunately, we ended up in a position where there were no steals or saves left. Definitely a memorable experience. Also missed some hilarious dance moves from me and Jacob.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Kevin: I keep saying this, but the memories made with the people I met was the main highlight. All different walks of life, each of us bringing our own uniqueness to this wild ride.
Voice Views: What are your post-Voice plans musically? Where are you hoping this opportunity leads?
Kevin: I’m super excited to continue my career as it was pre-Voice, but now with an expanded community around it! I have been writing for the last year in preparation for the studio. The Voice was a bit of a detour 🙂 but that plan is still in motion. I had plans to be touring all summer as well. When we can get back out there I plan to be in as many cities/states as I can! My hope is that I can continue to connect with those interested in following my journey.
Voice Views: Do you have plans to release new music? If so, what can you tell us about that?
Kevin: Yep, I know I alluded to that earlier…I don’t have a specific release date yet but plenty of new music is coming!
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Kevin: Man, just a loud “thank you” to anyone new or old that took an interest in what I’m doing. It means a lot more than you might know. Sending endless good vibes to everyone still on The Voice journey and beyond.
