Koryn Hawthorne of The Voice Season 8 has released her debut EP.

Koryn Hawthorne seemed to come out of nowhere to finish fourth on Season 8 of The Voice.

Now she’s released a debut EP that cracked the Top 20 on the iTunes R&B/Soul albums chart the day after its release.

When Koryn dropped a debut single (“Won’t He Do It”) last month, she said she refuses to be boxed in musically even though she’s a gospel artist recording for RCA Inspiration.

She’s stuck to that pledge on the diverse four-song EP. Standout tracks include “Warriors,” which opens with a rock guitar solo reminiscent of something you’d hear in the 1960s and a throwback sounding ballad called “Speak the Name.”

You can check out Koryn’s brilliant vocal on that song below.

Koryn worked with producers Warryn Campbell and Joaquin Bynum on “Warriors;” with producers-songwriters Aaron Lindsey and Bernie Herms on “Speak the Name.”

“To work with producers of this caliber is amazing,” Koryn, now 19, says in a RCA Inspirational press release, adding that they’ve given her “even more confidence in myself and in the distinctive approach I take with my music.”

Koryn was just 16 when she auditioned for The Voice and landed a spot on Team Christina Aguilera. She wound up being stolen by Pharrell Williams and advanced all the way to the finals alongside Meghan Linsey, Joshua Davis and Season 8 champ Sawyer Fredericks.

You can keep up with Koryn through her Facebook page. On Twitter, she’s @KorynHawthorne.
