Kris Allen, American Idol's Season 9 champ, has released a new song, just in time for the upcoming American Idol Live summer tour.

Kris Allen, American Idol’s Season 8 champ, has released a new song, just in time for the upcoming American Idol Live summer tour.

Season 8 American Idol champ Kris Allen released a new single Friday.

And it comes just in time for him to perform it as the special guest on the American Idol Live tour this summer.

The song is ““When All The Stars Have Died” and HollywoodLife.com premiered it on Thursday.

“This song means a lot to me,” Kris told the site. “Trying to figure out what loving someone forever actually means is a really hard thing to wrap my head around, but this song is the closest I can get to trying to explain it.”

Kris and his wife Katy will celebrate their 10th anniversary later this year. They were married the year before he appeared on Idol and have two children.

Meanwhile, Kris is going to be a busy guy this summer, serving as special guest on the Idol summer tour that kicks off July 11 in Redding, Calif., and includes tops in 40-plus cities.

Those include York, Pa., where the Idol Season 16 Top 7 will perform at the on Wednesday, Sept. 12,
