Now he’s at least a bit responsible for another four-chair turn on The Voice.
L.B. Crew said it was good friend and fellow Arkansas resident Barrett who gave him the nudge he needed to audition for Season 16.
“I wasn’t going to at first, but because he had given me a vote of confidence, I decided that I should try,” L.B., 29, of Little Rock told Voice Views.
Part of his reluctance stemmed from a past experience with the show.
L.B. made the Top 30 on Season 13 of American Idol. Shortly after that, he auditioned for The Voice at an open call in New Orleans.
“I thought I did great,” L.B. recalled. “Sang a Boyz To Men song, but the talent rep didn’t agree, I guess. Which made me apprehensive about this last audition.”
Let’s just say it went a mite better.
L.B. performed “Waves” by Mr. Probz and quickly showed off great range. He had Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson facing him in a heartbeat. But the time he stopped singing, he’d earned just the fifth four-chair turn of Season 16.
Praise followed as the coaches tried to convince L.B. to join their teams. He picked Team Adam.
“The feeling was amazing,” L.B. said. “I appreciate their positive feedback and criticism. This whole experience has changed my life for the better. I thank God, the coaches, the show, my fans, and everyone that’s played a role in this whole journey. It’s been amazing. The coaches have been phenomenal and I could not have asked for a better group of people to sing in front of.”
The blind auditions concluded Monday on The Voice. We’ll next see L.B. and his Season 16 colleagues in the battle round, which opens Monday.
