Season 17 American Idol standout Laci Kaye Booth makes her film debut in “Ride,” a rodeo movie released last week.

The film stars director Jake Allyn as Peter, a former rodeo champ who has served time in prison for vehicular homicide.

He has to turn to riding in hopes of a quick payday because his family needs $40,000 for potentially life-saving cancer treatment for his younger sister.

Laci plays Libby, a singer and girlfriend of Peter’s brother Noah.

The movie is now available on streaming sites, including Amazon.

Says Laci: “This badass rodeo movie is based in my home state (Texas). My first acting gig.

“Thank you (director) @jakeallyn85 & (producer / cinematographer) @keithleman for being so great to me and teaching me every step of the way. I’m honored and grateful.”

Laci also recently released her third album, the excellent “The Loneliest Girl in the World” on Geffen Records.

It includes a number of gems, including my new favorite song out there, “Can’t Cowboy.”
