Laci Kaye Booth from American Idol Season 17 has signed a record deal, the show announced Sunday night.

In one of the best pieces of news from either singing show in a while, Ryan Seacrest announced during the American Idol finale that Laci Kaye Booth from Season 17 has signed a record deal.

That deal is with 19 Recordings and the Big Machine Label Group, home to several popular country acts, including Lady Antebellum, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett and several others.

Laci’s unique smoky country vocals made her a fan favorite en route to a Top 5 finish on Idol. She was especially effective applying those vocals and a country twist to non-country covers like “Stars” and “I Want You to Want Me.”

“I have a RECORD DEAL!!!! Can’t believe that I’m officially a @bigmachinelabelgroup & #19recordings RECORDING ARTIST,” Laci posted to social media after the announcement was made.

“I’ve been so impatiently waiting to tell y’all & I’m SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY I got to hear @ryanseacrest say it on national TV. Wow. It’s been a wild 2 years & I feel so blessed.”

From Livington, Texas, Laci was 23 when she auditioned for American Idol. He dad Jody Booth is also a country singer, and she used to open at his shows.

She also released an impressive debut EP in 2017 called “Something New.” If you haven’t heard it, be sure to check out “Turn Around” and “Don’t Call Me.”

Since Idol, she’s relocated to Nashville, where she’s working on her debut project with producer Dann Huff, according to her website.

For those who need a reminder of her talent and marketability, here’s Laci covering “Stars” during Hollywood Week on Idol. The singing starts at about the 1:35 mark.
