A new single from the former American Idol runner-up?
Nope. A cover of a rock classic.
Lauren told Rolling Stone her dad was a fan of rock and roll and would encourage her to cover Cheap Trick in her early days as a singer.
So she visited Sound City Studios in Los Angeles and recorded “Surrender” in the very same — get this — bathroom where Cheap Trick recorded the song more than 40 years ago.
“Sometimes you just gotta sing a vocal in the bathroom,” she told the site.
Lauren, 24, was runner-up on Season 10 of Idol and has enjoyed a career resurgence of late, hitting number one on the country charts with “Road Less Traveled” and her Kane Brown duet, “What Ifs.”
Here’s a snippet of “Surrender,” which hadn’t landed on iTunes/Apple Music as of Friday.
