John Legend paired two veteran performers for the battle round on Season 16 of The Voice.

Lisa Ramey, 33, of New York, failed to turn a chair in Season 15, but returned for Season 16 and enticed John to turn for her cover of “Sex on Fire” by Kings of Leon.

Betsy Ade, 40, of Kenosha, Wisc., auditioned with “Hunger” by Florence and the Machine and earned a pair of chair turns.

She fronts the band Well-Known Strangers, which has an EP and album to their credit.

The feedback: Blake Shelton said “that moment couldn’t be more magical.” Adam Levine complimented them on a raw, emotional performance. Kelly Clarkson sounded as though she would give a little edge to Betsy. John said they both belong on a big stage.
The outcome: John advanced Lisa, saying to electrified him just a little more with the fire in her voice. but Kelly almost immediately stole Betsy.
My take: Dang. Just dang. Both of these women are experienced performers, so I’m not surprised this came off well. They traded glory notes, yet came together so well on the harmonies. This was, without doubt, the best battle of the night. Oh, and I loved the song choice, which gave both singers a chance to show off their vocal skills and the passion with which they perform.
