Luke Wade and Mia Z recorded a cover of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” to benefit the Susan G. Komen foundation.
And you might say two former Voice standouts — Luke Wade and Mia Z — had a big hand in its making.
They were selected to record a rendition of the 1960s hit “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” for the video.
The song was released to iTunes in September; 81 cents from each download benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
This is all being organized by Texas Christian University, which has been designating a Frogs for the Cure football game for 11 years and producing a song and video to assist the foundation for at least seven years.
More than 2,000 people were expected to take part in the filming of the “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” video. It will premiere at halftime of TCU’s Thursday night Big 12 football game against West Virginia.
Luke told People.com he was thrilled to take part in the fundraiser; both of his grandmothers battled breast cancer.
“One of the things that makes making music such an amazing career is the opportunity to support and share a message, not just with words, but with music,” he said.
Mia said getting to collaborate with Luke and help such a good cause was “an honor and awesome experience.”
Luke and Mia also performed the song during pre-game ceremonies when the Dallas Cowboys hosted the New England Patriots earlier this month. For more on the Frogs for a Cure effort, head here.
Luke finished in the Top 8 on Season 7 of The Voice and just launched a campaign to fund new music. More on that later.
Mia was a Top 10 finisher in Season 8.
