Maelyn Jarmon was one of just seven singers to turn all four chairs during the Season 16 blind auditions.

And she’ll keep right on singing for Team John Legend after winning her battle round match against Savannah Brister.

The background: Maelyn, 25, of New York, auditioned with “Fields of Gold” by Sting and turned four chairs. Savannah, 17, of Memphis, Tenn., auditioned with “Don’t You Worry Bout a Thing” by Stevie Wonder and turned two.
The song: “When We Were Young” by Adele
The feedback: Adam Levine said they did a great job with a “monster” of a song. Kelly Clarkson called Maelyn’s control “unreal,” but also noted Savannah held her own at just 17.
The outcome: John declared Maelyn the winner, saying he thinks she’ll “deliver what you expect her to deliver every time” as the competition proceeds. Savannah was selected for the Comeback Stage.
My take: John made the right choice. Maelyn’s clearly an experienced singer, perhaps the best female singer on the show. Loved that little lilt in her voice that you’ll hear from time to time. That said, Savannah earned that Comeback Stage berth with a very nice performance of her own.
