For Mandisa, the fourth time proved the charm.
Each of the first three albums from the Season 5 American Idol contestant had been nominated for Grammys.
All three fell short — “True Beauty” in 2008, “Freedom” in 2010 and “What If We Were Real” in 2012.
But that hard-luck streak ended this afternoon.
During the pre-telecast awards handed out in L.A., her latest album — “Overcomer” — was named Best Contemporary Christian album at the 2014 Grammys.
Her reaction on Twitter: “Oh my GOSH!!!”
And not bad for a woman who has turned a ninth-place finish on Idol into a great post-show career.
Mandisa was also up for best contemporary Christian music performance for her “Overcomer” single, but that honor went to Tasha Cobbs for “Break Every Chain.”
“Overcomer” was named best contemporary Christian song — a songwriters’ award for its writers David Garcia, Ben Glover and Christopher Stevens.
