The song is called “Hate Has No Home Here,” and Manny makes it clear on Facebook that he’d like the song to become a movement.
He wrote the single with Bonnie Warren, who he met at a songwriter’s convention in Nashville.
Manny said they decided to embark on a collaborative effort, writing “a song about something we’re both passionate about — and that’s creating something good, a good positive influence.”
Added Bonnie: “When we started putting the song together, it become clear there’s so much anti in the world. We need more good.
“There anti-Semitism, anti-gay, anti-black, anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-transgender — whatever is is. We decided to write a song that’s anti-hate.”
And they succeeded, with a song drives home messages of unity and acceptance. You can listen to Manny performing the song on Nashville Today below. The song hit digital sites on Friday.
Manny was 45 when he auditioned for Season 9 and turned four chairs with his cover of “Here I Go Again.” He was eliminated in that season’s battle round. Since The Voice, he also released a four-track EP called “Stratospheri.”
