Abayomi of American Idol Season 24
Idol returned to ABC on Monday, Jan. 26, with the coaching trio of Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood. Audition episodes continue to air through most of February.
Here’s more about Abayomi.
* She’s 16-year-old Abayomi Lewis from the Oakland area.
* Blessed with a wonderful tone, she appears to have auditioned for Idol with a video cover of “Black Leaves” by Kirby.
* Her only other cover on her Instagram is a version of Sia’s “Elastic Heart” that you can check out below.
* She apparently attends the Oakland School for the Arts.
* In her Instagram bio, she writes that she’ll be releasing an album soon.
* In mid-December, she posted that she got to be part of a music video being filmed by Bay area rapper LaRussell.
* She announced her Idol audition earlier in December, writing that it was a dream come true to sing in front of the celebrity judges.
* In an online essay, Abayomi says she fell in love with singing at a young age and would sing Adele songs for her mother.
* When she was in kindergarten, she and some friends signed up for a talent show. The friends decided not to do it. Her mom insisted Abayomi live up to her commitment. She performed Rihanna’s “Diamonds” and has been performing ever since.
