Abi Swart of American Idol Season 24
Idol returned to ABC on Monday, Jan. 26 with the judging trio of Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie. Audition episodes will continue to air through Feb. 16.
Here’s more about Abi:
* She’s a pop singer-songwriter from Columbus, Ohio. She’s now based in Nashville.
* She has released a trio of singles, all of which dropped in 2025. And and they show off her versatility, from a power ballad called “Never,” to the dance tune “Can We Dance” to a catchy pop song called “Cherry Red.”
* The latter is a song Abi says she re-wrote three times and nearly threw away, fearful it “would seem too desperate or paint me in a bad light.”
* “But in the end,” she writes, “it’s real to me, which means it’s real to at least one other person. If that’s you, I love you, and I hope we learn to stop changing ourselves for other people.” Check out a snippet of the song below.
* In her Spotify bio, Abi says her musical influences range from ’80s disco and soul to modern pop ballads.
* She got her start singing in churches and doing musical theater.
* According to one bio, Abi didn’t start writing her own music until about three years ago and just started gigging as a solo performer last year.
* Abi has more than 1.2 million likes on her TikTok. You’ll find two covers there that have been viewed more than 2 million times each. Both are Chappell Roan songs — “Subway” and “Good Luck, Babe.”
* She’s a 2024 graduate of Upper Arlington High School in Ohio, where she was involved in musical theater, made all-state choir and performed Adele’s “When We Were Young” in a duet with a classmate at her graduation.
