Her audition: Alena D’Amico, 26, of Detroit, Mich., auditioned with Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood.” An impressive glory note near the end of the song prompted near simultaneous chair turns from Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson. Kelly complimented the song choice and the passion in Alena’s performance. Alena joined Team Kelly.

About Alena:

* She made the show as a singer, but she’s also an owner and CEO of The Beauty Gals. The Beauty Gals is a Michigan-based, bring-the-salon-to-you service. On the business website, Alena is described as a hair stylist, make-up artist and beauty expert whose idea “was to offer clients a more luxurious and convenient beauty experience through offering affordable in-home styling services.”

* Apparently, that’s gone quite well. The business has won a number of awards, including a Wedding Wire Couple Choice Award for 2019 and a Best of The Knot 2018 honor.

* But on Instagram, Alena’s bio reads “I like to sing” and she backs that up with a Facebook music page that features covers of “Waves” by Mr. Probz (which you can check out below) and “Scared to be Lonely” by Dua Lipa.

* She says she performed in talent shows here and there in school and also performed at Arts, Beats and Eats, a festival in Royal Oak, Mich.

* In 2016, she was a featured vocalist on a song called “Greed” by hip-hip / rap artist Vito Polizzi.
She also appears in the music video for the song, which you can check out here. That link comes with an explicit lyric warning. She said Vito is a good friend. “He asked me to feature in it and we had a blast.”

* As for her music, Alena told Voice Views she’s “more on the writing side and have a ton of songs in the vault! I’m just waiting for the right moment to release them.”

* That said, Alena describes her sound as “sultry pop with a kick.”

* She picked “In My Blood” for her blind audition “because It’s one of my favorite songs from Shawn Mendes and I’m in love with the melody. I really wanted to connect with the song and make it my own.”

* On her decision to join Team Kelly, Alena said: “Kelly is a strong woman with a strong voice. I love what she stands for and she really inspires me!”
