here’s more about Amanda.
* Amanda is in her late teens, from Lynn, Mass., and her American Idol audition won’t be her first foray into the world of televised singing competitions.
* In 2014, at age 11, she won La Voz Kids, a Spanish-language version of The Voice for youngsters.
* She also appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2018 at age 15 and received a golden buzzer for her performance of “A Natural Woman.” She was eliminated in the semifinals.
* In her AGT appearance, Amanda explained that she moved to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic, where she spent the first four years of her life, and was bullied because she looked different and didn’t speak English. Music and the support of her mom helped her persevere, she said.
* Since then, Amanda has released five singles in Spanish, beginning with “Alma Gamela” in 2015.
* Her first two English releases were “After Party” and “Non-Fiction,” both of which came out last summer. You can check out the latter below.
* Last year, she performed at the Boston Pops Fourth of July concert, sharing a stage with Queen Latifah, Arlo Guthrie, and Keith Lockhart.
* In a November interview with Northshore Magazine, Amanda said her favorite genre is R&B and soul/pop. She said her musical inspirations include Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Beyoncé.
* That article identifies Amanda as an 18-year-old senior honors student at St. Mary’s High School in Lynn.
* Amanda has more than 100,000 followers on Instagram and Facebook and more than 26,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel.
