Wild Card — I Know You Won’t

Semifinals — Gravity

Here’s guessing that Jeremy Rosado’s American Idol audition wasn’t anything like his first attempt at singing for an audience.

After all, he did leave Savannah with a golden ticket.

About that first performance … well, best to let Jeremy tell the story.

“I can’t believe I’m sharing this,” he begins in his golden ticket interview.  “I loved Britney Spears.  And it was bad.  I was a little boy, probably 6, 7 years old, trying to sing and dance like her.”

He rolls his eyes.  “Ashamed.  But I’ve grown out of that.”

Jeremy is from Valrico, Fla., and attends or attended Hillsborough Community College, according to his Facebook page.  There, his list of musical influences includes Christian artists like Francesca Battistelli, Kirk Franklin and Israel Houghton.

Savannah wasn’t his first crack at American Idol.

In fact, he says he auditioned four times before.

“When they gave me that golden ticket, I was kinda thinking maybe they were talking to the girl who was waiting on deck, to go on after me, and maybe they just made a mistake,” the personable young man says with a smile. “But they said it was for me and then they wrote my (Idol contestant) number.”

His favorite Idol contestants include last year’s finalists, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery.  He says he admires how humble Scotty is and pledges to show his own sense of humility on the show.

“I would say God first and, after that, this is everything for me,” he says of music.  “I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.”

Since we didn’t get to see Jeremy perform on the show, here’s one of his non-Idol performances.

“Never Would Have Made It”
