About Andrew:
* He grew up in a musical family. His father was in a rock band and his mother was a country singer.
* On the show, we heard about how his father taught him to play guitar in fifth-grade. His Voice bio tells the rest of the story. He wanted to learn to play to impress his crush at the time.
* Regardless, he’s been playing music ever since and classifies himself as a country rock and blues singer. He lives in a mobile home his family used as a music studio.
* As we heard on the show, he performed with his parents for a while as part of a family band called Helluvanote. “We were a variety band playing country, rock, blues and pop music,” Andrew said.
* But he’s also been trying to forge his path as a solo artist. He released a single in 2012 and followed it up with an impressive debut EP called “Bad Connection” last year. “Lie So Pretty” and “Talk to the Girl” are especially good. Check out the former below.
* Andrew said his biggest performance prior to The Voice was opening for Texas country artist Stoney La’Rue at his hometown bar Turkey Creek in front of a crowd of about 1,800. Turkey Creek, coincidentally, was also one of the first places to welcome Andrew as a performer.
* “I would describe my original sound as southern rock with a little more country thrown in,” Andrew told Voice Views. “Honestly, I haven’t perfected my original sound, but I’m getting closer and closer with every song I write. I see my sound evolving. I don’t want it to just be under one category of music. I want everyone to like it.”
* As for his audition song: “Travis Tritt is my guy. He’s my idol. That’s the sound I love and grew up on. It just so happened I found his cover of ‘Honky Tonk Women’ and fell in love with it. I felt I could do a good job on it and it would be a really good song to show off my power.”
* And where the other coaches correct about Andrew being Team Blake bound, regardless of what happened? “I’m super excited to be on team Blake and honestly, the other coaches were right. But if all four turned, I would’ve liked to hear their proposals. I have respect for every one of those artists. Each has made their own stamp on music in general and it would be an honor to work with either of them. But, I believe I have the perfect coach.”
