Anna McElroy of American Idol Season 23

Idol officially kicked off Season 23 on March 9 with Carrie Underwood joining Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie at the judges’ table.

Auditions will continue to air Sunday nights on ABC until Hollywood Week begins.

Here’s more about Anna.

* She’s a 25-year-old Nashville-based country singer and songwriter.

* And she released five singles between 2021 and 2022. Her most recent, “Water My Roots,” landed in Feb. 2022.

* In her web bio, Anna says she was born and raised in Mobile, Ala., and discovered her love of music at 4 years old.

* She performed in her church’s choir throughout her childhood and has been performing live shows since 2016.

* A turning point for Anna came in 2018 when she attended the Pensacola Songwriters Fest and met Nashville songwriters Keith and Adrienne Follese. She moved to Nashville and began working alongside them.

* As a performer, Anna has opened for Sara Evans, Lee Ann Womack and Joe Diffie.

* And she played the renowned Bluebird Cafe in Nashville in December 2023, an occasion she refers to as “a magical night.”

* She also has more than 2,000 followers and more than 500,000 likes on her TikTok.

* Anna’s not exactly a stranger to singing shows. In fact, she judged and performed in one — Nashville’s Next, Best of 3 — in 2021
