Avery Roberson from The Voice Season 20

Avery Roberson is among the singers to announce that they auditioned for Season 20 of The Voice.

Here’s more about Avery.

* He describes himself as a country music singer-songwriter.

* From Rutherfordton, N.C., he’s a 2018 graduate of R.S. Central High School.

* In the summer of 2019, he and good friend Kanaan Brock traveled to Columbus, S.C., to try out for American Idol.

* In an interview with a local TV station, Avery says he was inspired to audition by the success of Laine Hardy, a small-town country boy who auditioned for Idol, didn’t make the finals one season, but followed up by winning in Season 17.

* He and Kanaan met on the high school wrestling team, became good buddies and wound up posting covers together on YouTube.

* Avery hasn’t released music yet but posted his first original to YouTube — “I Remember Mine” — to YouTube last February. You can check it out below.

* That said, you can find more samples of Avery’s artistry on his Instagram and TikTok than on YouTube.

Editor’s note: Season 20 of The Voice is scheduled to kick off Monday, March 1 on NBC.
