Baylee Littrell of American Idol Season 23

American Idol returns Sunday, March 9 with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie returning as judges. They’ll be joined by Carrie Underwood, who replaces Katy Perry.

Here’s more about Baylee.

* He’s 22, the Georgia-born son of Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys and model/actress Leighanne Wallace Littrell.

* And that means he already had lots of performing and recording experience before stepping foot on the American Idol audition stage.

* Baylee released a debut country album called “Boxes” in November 2019 when he was still just 16. The title track from that 13-song collection has been streamed 1.8 million times on Spotify.

* In his Spotify bio, Baylee says he was inspired to release a country album because he grew up to his grandparents constantly listening to the music of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette.

* He followed up with a singer-songwriter EP in 2022 that’s still country leaning. “Gone” from that six-song project has been streamed nearly 300,000 times. You can check it out below. “Be-Leavin” is another standout track from that EP.

* As the son of entertainers, Baylee started taking acting, singing and piano lessons at a young age and learned to play guitar from his dad.

* At age 13, he landed a part in the Broadway musical “Disaster!” playing the role of identical twins.

* Even as a child, Baylee would travel with the Backstreet Boys, appearing on stage to announce the group.

* In 2019, he was the official opening act on the North American leg of the Backstreet Boys DNA Tour.

* The same year, he opened a series of dates for country star Chris Lane on his Big Big Plans tour.

* Baylee’s also an abstract artist and sells his paintings through his website.
