Brook Wood of The Voice Season 27

Brook Wood of The Voice Season 27

Her audition: Brook Wood, 33, New York, N.Y., “Save Me” by Jelly Roll: Dang, what a nice soulful voice. Brook earns an early chair turn from John Legend. Eventually, Brook’s impassioned performance got Kelsea Ballerini to turn as well. Kelsea said Brook “killed it.” She liked her rock and her rasp. Adam called her power incredible. John said Brook has the kind of voice that could win the show. Brook opts to join Team Kelsea.

Here’s more about Brook.

* She’s a New York based singer with lots of experience that could come in handy for a show like The Voice.

* According to online bios, she spent 2019 touring with Postmodern Jukebox On Deck aboard ships of the Holland American Cruise Line.

* She made her debut with Philly Pops Orchestra in March 2020, singing the music of Phil Collins and Genesis.

* Brook has also performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Winton Salem Symphony.

* And she’s performed tributes to the music of Queen and Journey at the Prima Theatre in Lancaster, Pa.

* Brook doesn’t appear to have music on streaming sites at the moment, but posted about writing her first original in early 2020 and has a couple of collaborations with country artist Luke Denison on her website.

* And this isn’t her first time auditioning for The Voice. In a 2021 social media post, she covers a Linda Ronstadt song for The Voice open call. Writes Brook: “Keep putting yourself out there even when it’s a ‘no,’ friends. That is part of the work too.”

* Brook has a busy schedule of upcoming shows too. She’s set to perform the music of Phil Collins and Genesis with the Pacific Symphony in Coast Mesa, Calif., and to travel to Boca Raton, Fla., for a series of Symphonic Broadway Kings and Queens shows later this month.

* Writes Brook on Instagram: “No matter what I’m goin’ through I know I can ALWAYS count on music to heal me.”

* She’s from Indianapolis, where her dad was lead guitarist for a local country music dad. “My dad was king of ‘My daughter can sing and you got to hear it,” Brook told The Voice. Her dad passed in 2021.

Update: Brook will release her debut single “Wonder What YOu Miss” on March 17. “It was inspired by those infamous late night “I miss you” texts that somehow leave you feeling even worse than when they ghosted you,” she writes on Instagram.
