Caroline Brett of American Idol Season 23

Idol returned Monday, March 9, with Carrie Underwood joining Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie at the judges’ table.

The final audition episode airs Sunday. Hollywood Week episodes begin airing Monday.

Here’s more about Caroline:

* She’s a 17-year-old actress and singer from Orlando, Fla.

* And while she doesn’t appear to have released her own music, this is a teenager with lots of performance experience.

* She’s been a standout in Florida state thespian competitions, taking Best of Show at the regional level in November and recording two perfect scores at state competition, performing “Get Out and Stay Out” from “9 to 5.”

* She’s also been involved in musical theater outside a school setting in Florida since 2016, according to her Backstage.com resume.

* She’s been in Winter Park Playhouse’s production of School House Rock for three years running and appeared in Winnie’s Rock Cauldron Caberet last fall.

* Caroline also has the lead role in a 2024 short film called Harmony of Spirits, about a young girl forced to move away from her friends. And, yep, she gets to sing in the role.

* Caroline credits her grandfather, who passed in December 2022, for being “the reason I do music.” Check out her performance of “Lucky Man” by The Verve in his honor below.

* Along the way, Carolina has amassed nearly 8,000 followers and nearly 1 million likes on her TikTok, where she writes “I sing a little.”

* On Instagram, Caroline also describes herself as a varsity wrestler and blue belt in Jiujitsu.

* She got involved in the latter sport four years ago and describes it as “a constant in my life. No matter what life threw at me I knew I always had the mat waiting for me. Thank you @gbnorthorlando for providing me with the physical and mental strength I needed to face the world!”

* Caroline is currently preparing for her next theatrical role, playing Alice in “Alice of Hearts” at the Theater West End in Sanford, Fla. The musical runs the first weekend in May.
