Here’s more about Connor:
* Connor was a high school tennis star back home in Ohio and now coaches tennis in the Denver area. But he also told The Voice he’s had a guitar in his hand since he was a young boy.
* Connor said his dad loved music and would take him to blues clubs, where the band members would let him join in occasionally.
* He also got involved in music through church and plays in his church band, according to his bio on The Voice website.
* “I’ve been practicing every day, working on improving areas in my guitar playing and singing,” Connor told Voice Views. “I try to listen to multiple genres to pull from when writing and diversifying my style. Serving in church helps with that a lot. Playing worship music is always fun to get my spirit in the right place.”
* On Facebook, he indicates he’s been working on an EP. Connor said he’s also been rehearsing with fellow Denver musicians two or three times a week to put together a solid set list for summer shows.
* Connor said he’s describe his music as alternative mixed with blues and rock. “It’s fun to make it something of my own that’s unique,” he said. “I think people will like what’s coming. I wear my heart on my sleeve in everything I do, and music is no exception. Honesty is what makes great music.”
* In terms of music he’s already delivered, Connor released a song called “Medicine (Just Need You)” to streaming sites in 2019. You can check it out below. He’s also featured on a single called “Fly” released by a friend under the stage name Godls.
* Connor says his major influences are Gary Clark Jr., John Mayer, Rival Sons, Doyle Bramhall, Leon Bridges, Anderson Paak, Kings of Leon and Hozier. “To get a chance to play or work with any of these artists would be a dream come true. I’ve looked to them a lot for influence,” he says.
* Connor said he chose “Bright Lights” for his audition song because of the influence it has had on my musical journey. “The first time I heard it, I got chills and could see myself on the big stage,” he says. “The lyrics say ‘you’re gonna know my name’ and, being from a small town, I wanna show the audience and the music industry that I have what it takes.”
* He adds that Gary Clark Jr.’s music “got me through some of the hardest times in my life, and I hope one day to do the same for others.” He also said it was a Gary Clark concert his dad took him to that inspired him to pursue music. “I was hooked and knew that’s what I wanted to do.”
* Connor says he decided to join Team Blake “off of a gut feeling. It was a hard choice standing up there when all the coaches have a lot to offer. I went with what felt right at the time.”
