Effie Passero will be a contestant on the new season of American Idol.

Effie Passero is among contestants who have announced on social media that they auditioned for ABC’s new version of American Idol.

Idol premieres Sunday with Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan as the judges who determine which singers make it to Hollywood and which don’t.

Here’s more about Effie Passero.

She’s a 26-year-old singer/songwriter from Modesto, Calif., who lists her occupation as house manager of The State Theatre in Modesto.

In her Facebook bio, Effie says she’s been singing since age 5 and, with the help of her family and mentors, has traveled all over the country performing and entertaining.

Though trained in opera for 10 years, she decided to pursue more of a singer-songwriter path and has written more than 200 songs, according to that bio.

Her real passion, she says, is rearranging music from the 1960s, 70s and 80s into rock piano ballads.

You can check out several of her impressive originals on her Soundcloud page. I’ve embedded the superb “Oregon Air” below. Dang, that’s a great vocal.

On Soundcloud, she writes: “I’m a 26 year old girl living in a man’s world. Trying to push my way into the music industry and prove myself. These songs tell my stories. Hope you enjoy :)”
