Franklin Boone of Durham, N.C., is among the contestants we’ll meet on American Idol Sunday

American Idol will air a final audition episode Sunday night before taking taking its talented Season 18 cast to Hollywood.

And among the contestants we’ll meet Sunday night is Franklin Boone.

Here’s more about Franklin:

* One his website, Franklin describes himself as a singer-songwriter who performs anywhere he can take a guitar, including festivals, community events, bars and weddings.

* He says his music doesn’t fit into a specific genre, partly because of his wide range of influences, which include alternative/indie rock, folk, R&B, jazz, and ’70s, ’80s and ’90s rock.

* Since 2015, he’s released nine singles still available on streaming sites. That includes “Can’t Shake It” from 2019 and “Everything” and “Find the Rhythm” from 2018. Check out “Can’t Shake It” below.

* Franklin plays guitar, piano, keyboards and other instruments, including drums and the banjo.

* Among his musical influences, he lists John Mayer, Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, The Police and Bruce Springsteen.

* He’s worship director at Restoration Church in Durham, N.C., a position he’s held since January 2016, and a music teacher at the School of Rock in Wake Forest.

* He attended Cresset Christian Academy and East Carolina University and previously worked as praise and worship leader at Every Nation Campus Ministries.

* Franklin met his wife Meredith while serving there. They were married in 2015 and now have a 1-year-old daughter who also loves to sing, according to Boone’s Facebook page, where he provides video evidence of the fact.
