Grayson Torrence of American Idol Season 23

American Idol returns Sunday, March 9 with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie returning as judges. They’ll be joined by Carrie Underwood, who replaces Katy Perry.

Here’s more about Grayson.

* She’s a pop singer-songwriter in her early 20s from Virginia with four singles already out.

* In her Spotify bio, Grayson says she made her singing debut at age 9 and began taking voice lessons. But it wasn’t until two years later that she really decided she wanted to become a singer.

* She’s previously auditioned for Idol, The Voice and America’s Got Talent, she reveals in that bio. She’s also been performing at local venues since 2018.

* Her musical inspirations include Billie Eilish, Conan Gray, Demi Lovato, Christina Aguilera, Adele and more.

* And while Grayson says she loves to sing pop, she performs music from all genres and tailors her shows to the audience at hand.

* Grayson began releasing music with an impressive single called “My Crown” in 2020. She says she wrote the song when she felt like she had “no control over anything.”

* In her website bio, Grayson reveals that she’s also been a victim of bullying, which led to her continuing her schooling at home.

* Music, she says, became a way to process her emotions. But she writes that she also wants her music to “offer a safe space for all her listeners to know they are not alone in their struggles.”
