We’d seen her on the Idol promos before Season 11 started.
Finally, tonight on Idol, we met Baylie Brown.
Or perhaps I should say we were reintroduced to her.
Baylie, now 21, was on Idol back in Season 6 at age 16 and got herself a golden ticket to Hollywood.
Simon Cowell’s assessment at the time: He called Baylie “commerical with a capital ‘C.’ ”
Unfortunately for Baylie, she forgot her words during the group performance in Hollywood and was sent home while the other members of her group advanced.
She’s hardly given up on her dream of becoming a singer.
The gal from Krum, Texas, has since moved to Nashville and has appeared on a CMT show called “Singing Bees.”
She’s also been working on original music, some of which you can hear below, some of which you can hear on her MySpace page.
According to her Facebook page, she’s a country artist through and through; she even named her dog after a country singer.
“I love country music,” she says in that Facebook bio, “and I want to be part of it for a long time.”
No doubt she’s got the look of a star. And the name of one.
As for the voice … Well, she impressed the judges with a rendition of “Bed of Roses” and she’s on her way to Hollywood again.
Another part of Simon’s assessment: He suggested her voice would be even better in two or three years.
How about in five years?
We’re about to find out.
Now, for the music, followed by her Season 6 audition.
“I Don’t Want to Remember” (original)
“I’m Only Foolin’ Me”
