Pia Toscano, Season 10

Meet Hollywood-bound Pia Toscano

A promo from Pia Toscano's MySpace page

A look at another of last week’s golden ticket recipients … keep checking back. I’ll be posting more.

Pia Toscano — full name Pia Ann Rose Toscano — describes her music as pop/R&B/ soul on her MySpace music page. In a video interview on YouTube, she describes herself as a wedding singer.

But she performs originals too, once opened for the Bare Naked Ladies and, in July 2008, beat out 500 auditioners for the honor of singing the national anthem at a New York Mets game.

At the time, she told the Queens Gazelle Newspaper that she’d been performing since age 2 and was working on a six-track demo CD. Matter of fact, you can hear seven of her originals on her MySpace. My favorite is a pop tune called “Keep Away from Me.”

A graduate of LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, she decided to focus on a career in music rather than going to college.

Here’s Pia, performing four covers.

“Since You’ve Been Gone”

Singing “The Prayer”

Singing “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse

Singing Paparazzi by Lady Gaga

Would love to see Pia do a Heart song like Barracuda or Magic Man. I feel she could really do Ann wilson justice.
