His background: To supplement his income from music, he runs a t-shirt screen printing business out of his kitchen. He considers his genre post-Americana and considered his audition song a tribute of sorts to one of his biggest supporters, his sister. He also said it was her passing from a heart attack at age 41 that taught him to seize every opportunity that comes his way. And she loved it when he played rock and roll, Joey recalled.
On picking Team Blake: Joey told Media Hub he likes the fact that Blake is familiar with artists making the transition from the Texas red dirt country scene to Nashville. “I think Blake and me probably have a lot more in common than either one of us would admit. He’s an Oklahoma boy, I’m a Texas boy, so I think we might think along the same lines,” he added. “Working with him — he’s very laid back and cool, nice and honest. And he’s a hugger. And that’s a big hug coming from a giant man.”
