Johnny West, from Murrieta, Calif., auditioned for American Idol Season 18

Among the singers who auditioned is Jonny West.

Here’s more about Jonny.

* He’s a singer-songwriter from Murrieta, Calif., and attended Murrieta Valley High School.

* He released a four-song debut EP called “Oh” in October.

* You’ll want to check out “Feel Like Myself” from that EP. It’s a great song — about losing oneself when falling for someone else — and has a great accompanying music video, which I’ve embedded below.

* Writes Jonny on social media: “This song was written about all the feelings you may feel from something brand new and is definitely still open ended, but I feel the more I play it the more I reach a conclusion where I’d rather be myself at the end of it all. Even if I’m just me and not the power of feeling like fire, wind or rain. Plus, ordinary can be pleasantly surprising sometimes.”

* Another song on the EP is “Glow.” Jonny describes it this way: “The words behind ‘Glow’ have been what I’ve felt the most throughout this whole process, and wondering if what I have to say is worth listening to will always be a weighty question for me. However, with these releases I’m finding that, if anything, I’m just grateful that I get to say anything at all.”

* Jonny just followed up with another single called “Moment” that dropped on Jan. 24.

* While Jonny hasn’t announced his audition on social media, he just launched a Twitter account and there’s a July 2019 photo on his Instagram with Margie Mays, a Season 17 contestant who’s rumored to be returning for Season 18. There’s even more photos of Jonny on Margie’s Instagram. Yep, they’re a couple.

* Update: On Thursday (Feb. 13), Jonny released a music video for another of his songs — “I’ll See.” He also co-directed it with Jasmine Thomas.
