Her audition: Julia Cooper, 21, Poland, Ohio, auditioned with “Alaska” by Maggie Rogers. Her lilting vocals inspired quick chair turns from John, Gwen and Kelly in turn. John said there’s no one on his team who sounds like her, sparking a dispute with Kelly. Julia opted to join Team John.
Here’s more about Julia:
* She turned 21 in May and describes herself as a singer-songwriter whose music includes elements of pop, R&B and jazz.
* As a high school student, she attended the Songbook Academy music program in 2016 and was a Top 10 finisher in the program’s finals, singing “All the Things You Are.”
* Julia released her debut single, “You to Go” in November 2018 and followed up with a four-song EP called “Clean” the following spring.
* Her latest release was a January single called “When We First Met.” You can check out snippets of it and the title track to “Clean” below.
* Want to hear more. This year, she’s posted an unreleased original called “Boy Blue” to Soundcloud and submitted another “Something in My Head” to the NPR Tiny Desk Contest.
