Kase Tippens of American Idol Season 23

Idol kicked off Season 23 Sunday night with Carrie Underwood joining Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie at the judges’ tables.

Auditions will continue Sunday nights on ABC.

Here’s more about Kase.

* He describes himself as a 15-year-old “red dirt country music singer” from Yukon, Okla.

* And while he hasn’t released music, he’s had some pretty big performances for someone so young.

* When his school, Southwest Covenant opened its new football stadium, Kase was called on to sing the national anthem.

* Judging from his Instagram page, he also performed the anthem before an Oklahoma Thunder NBA game in October.

* He’s also performed a number of local gigs and has announced himself as available for booking on his social media accounts.

* In his website bio, Kase notes that he comes from the same hometown as Garth Brooks and says he’s been “inspired by the sounds of country music from a young age.”

* His own idols included George Strait and Park McCollum, he told The Oklahoman in an October interview.

* “Right before I go to bed every night, I always imagine myself on a stage somewhere playing in front of people like they do,” Kase told the sitee.

* in the same interview, his parents say they recognized Kase’s vocal talents when he was 7 or 8 and enrolled him in piano and voice lessosn.

* He plays the guitar and harmonica as well now and has attracted more than 2,500 followers to his TikTok.

* Kase is a freshman at Southwest Covenant, where he also plays on the football team.
