Kendra Remedios of The Voice Season 29

Kendra Remedios is among the artists who auditioned for Season 29 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, Feb. 23 with the coaching trio of John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine.

Here’s more about Kendra:

* She’s a singer-songwriter and dental hygienist from Arlington, Texas, who’s now based in Nashville.

* And she’s already achieved one longtime goal this month, even before her audition on The Voice airs. That’s playing a show on the renown stage at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville.

* Writes Kendra on social media: “In November 2022, I moved from Texas to right down the street from the iconic @3rdandlindsley. I remember telling myself, ‘Someday I’m going to play my original music on that stage.’ I even put my sticker on their front door as a little promise to myself.” She and her band played 3rd and Lindsley on Feb. 11.

* Those who missed the show can check out Kendra’s music on their favorite streaming site. She currently has five singles and a 2021 EP called “The Beginning” on those sites.

* Her latest release was “Darlin'” released almost exactly a year ago. It’s a song she says she wrote five years earlier with Big Joe Walker.

* That single now has more than 250,000 streams on Spotify. Check out the music video below. It’s one of four singles Kendra has released with more than 180,000 streams on the site. Her 2024 single “Hot Mess” leads the way with more than 350,000.

* On her website, Kendra describes her sound as a “unique blend of Lone Star grit and southern charm — a distinctive brand of country with elements of southern rock and blues.

* Back in 2013, at age 18, she auditioned for American Idol and earned a golden ticket. At the time, she described herself as quite the tomboy. In fact, she auditioned for the show in both Season 11 and Season 12, getting past the celebrity judges both times.

* In a Hank’s Corner Podcast interview, Kendra recalls the one of her first performances was singing Britney Spears’ “Oops! … I Did It Again” at a school talent show. She got great feedback and started singing every chance she got.

* In the same interview, Kendra explains that she had originally planned to move to Nashville earlier. But her dad suffered a brain aneurysm in 2019 and she wanted to spend time with him during his recovery. He passed in 2021.

* One of the first songs Kendra released was a tribute to her father called “Daddy and Me.” After he passed, Kendra said, “I just kept hearing my dad saying, ‘What are you waiting for? Go (to Nashville). This is what you’ve wanted to do your whole life.'”
