Nathan Parrett, Season Two Contestants, The Voice

Meet Nathan Parrett of The Voice (Team Adam)

1

Compared to lots of singers on The Voice, Nathan Parrett is a novice.

You won’t find his music on iTunes.  You won’t find tons of videos on a YouTube channel.

But don’t underestimate the 24-year-old South Carolinian, who now lives in Los Angeles.

In a segment for Channel 6-WECT, his former theater teacher Amy Jones describes the 2006 South Columbus High School graduate as “a triple threat,” talented in art, theater and music.

You can get a sense of his art at his blog, Extraordinary Man, where he’s also posted videos of himself singing Adele and Fiona Apple.  He writes that he’s been working on his own music.

“So hopefully soon I can share an original with you,” he wrote back in January.  “That all depends on how I feel about it when I’m done.”

According to his bio on The Voice, Nathan works as a swim instructor, but he says he’s always wanted to be a recording artist and sees the show as a wonderful way to accomplish that dream.

He sang “The Joker” for his audition, well enough to get Adam Levine to turn around, and says he’s thrilled to be mentored by “a true rock star.”

“I am competitive,” Nathan tells The Voice. “I tried to write down the other day, ‘I have to win.” As ridiculous as it sounds, even with board games, I’m kind of that guy … I have to win. I can’t forget that about myself.”

Now, here are a couple of samples of Nathan’s vocal talent, followed by his audition for The Voice, which we saw just a snippet of back on Feb. 13.
