Quintavious Johnson of American Idol Season 22

Quintavious Johnson is among the artists rumored to have earned a golden ticket on American Idol season 22.

Idol returns to ABC on Sunday, Feb. 18 with the coaching trio of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan back intact.

Here’s more about Quintavious.

* He’s a 22-year-old Christian artist from Franklin, Tenn.

* And he did very well in a previous televised competition show, though that was quite a while ago.

* In 2014, when he was just 12, Quintavous auditioned for Season 9 of America’s Got Talent, impressing the judges with his rendition of Beyonce’s “Listen.”

* Quintavious wound up making it all the way to the finals, tackling challenging songs along the way, like Etta James’ “I’d Rather o blind” and Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Going Down.”

* He finished fifth, and performed “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” alongside Jennifer Hudson in the finale.

* His family said they discovered Quintavious could sing when he was still a toddler. And he joined the choir at Lime Stone Baptist Church when he was just 5.

* He went on to become a worship leader and continues to perform at special events, such as Franklin’s State of the City celebration last May.

* Quintavious has also performed the national anthem on numerous occasions, including for the Tennessee Titans, New York Rangers, New York Knick, Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Lions.

* To date, he appears to have released just one song, a Christian single called “Your Grace” from the summer of 2021. It’s a six-plus minute worship song and an excellent example of Quintavious’s vocal skill.

* Quintavious didn’t announce his Idol audition until earlier this week, writing on social media: “What do you think happens when Hollywood gets a fresh dose of the Holy Ghost?…Let’s find out … I am excited to announce that I have auditioned for season 22 of American Idol!!!…. Isaiah 61:1-3”
