And former Voice contestant Rob Taylor is among those who have confirmed they auditioned for the show.
Here’s more about Rob.
* From Donaldson, Louisiana, he was 22 when he auditioned for Season 8 of The Voice and turned three chairs with his cover of Luke James “I Want You.” Christina Augilera was so impressed, she rushed the stage to hug him. Guess which team Rob joined.
* He enjoyed great success on the show, advancing all the way to the Top 10. His Top 12 night performance of “I Put a Spell on You” hit number one on the iTunes R&B/Soul singles chart.
* At the time, Rob said his introduction to music came in church, that he hadn’t done much performing outside of church and a few community events and that he wasn’t allowed to listen to secular music when he was young.
* But he said he’d become a fan of “music as a whole — country, pop, rock, jazz, electric.” That’s backed up by the diverse range of covers on his YouTube channel.
* And that bit about not performing much outside church has changed too. For instance, there’s video on his Facebook page of Rob covering Prince’s “Purple Rain” at Essence 2019 at the New Orleans Convention Center.
* Earlier this month, Rob posted a snippet of an original pop song called “Crush” to his Instagram page, but it doesn’t appeared to have been released to streaming sites yet.
* As for his decision to audition for Season 18 of American Idol, he writes this: “Soooo I decided to go for my dreams, achieve my goals and try this ‘TV’ thing again on American Idol 😆☺️.. Sometimes the path to believing in oneself is a long and challenging road but SO WORTH IT.”
Keep checking back. Lots more Season 18 profiles are coming.

And so begins another season of “American Idol” hype.
There’s a bad twist coming on “Idol” this season ala “The Voice” that will leave some people, including perhaps Mr. Franklin, quite displeased.
Just. Stop.
