Shye of The Voice Season 26

Her audition: Shye, 17, Glen Cove, N.Y., “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” by Five for Fighting: Shye’s unique tone enticed an immediate chair turn from Gwen Stefani. Then Shye nails a glory note and all three of other coaches turn. Shye continues to impress and delivers a great ending to the performance, bringing Gwen and Reba McEntire to their feet. Reba said her voice is so rich. Gwen said she’s more excited for Shye than any singer so far this season. Michael complimented Shye on her incredible range. Snoop Dogg said Shye is “made for singing.” Shye joined Team Michael.

Here’s more about Shye.

* Shye is stage name for Shye Roberts, a 17-year-old singer-songwriter and student who’s attended Glen Cove High School in New York.

* She began singing at age 3 and participating in school plays in the third grade.

* In high school, Shye played the role of Teen Angel in “Grease” and the grandmother in “The Heights.”

* In 2022, at age 15, Shye competed in the Glen Cove Downtown Sounds Teen Idol competition and placed second.

* The same year, she was selected to sing “God Bless America” at the inauguration of Glen Cove Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck.

* And as part of a select choir from the Charter Arts vocal music department, she got to sing on stage with the rock band Foreigner at two shows in November 2023.

* Shye has yet to release music, but she performed an original called “Monsters” at a student showcase in Bethlehem, Pa., in April.

* You can check out that song below. Shye has posted another original, the impressive “Mold Into Gold,” on her YouTube channel, displaying vocals mature beyond her age. And check out the audience response.

* And in a March social media post, she performs “I Know Where I’ve Been” from Hairspray, writing: “It really resonates with me as a mixed person who has experienced many roadblocks even despite being white passing. Even more so, it beautifully represents the emotions and struggles of black people in America.”
