Uzziah Hutchinson of American Idol Season 24
Idol returned to ABC on Monday, Jan. 26 with the judging trio of Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie. Audition episodes will continue on Mondays through most of February.
Here’s more about Uzziah:
* He received more pre-show attention than nearly any other Season 24 contestant thanks to a promo clip Idol released.
* Uzziah works at an educational assistant at Riley Elementary School in Riley, Indiana, and winds up discussing the “6-7” craze with Carrie during his audition.
* The Idol judge suggests adults immediately respond to “6-7” by singing “5-3-0-9” from Tommy Tutone’s 1881 hit “867-5309/Jenny.” Uzziah laughs and says, “That’ll work.”
* The clip is in keeping with Uzziah’s personality. When he launched his YouTube channel nine years ago, he described himself as “just a small-town boy trying to make you smile.”
* And his TikTok is a mix of music and humorous clips. He has 12,000 followers and more than 325,000 likes on the site.
* Uzziah is from Terra Haute, Indiana, serves as president of a community choir and was appointed as a board member of the Terra Haute Pride Center in 2025. He’s performed at the community’s Pride Festival for three years.
* Uzziah turned 28 on Dec. 1 and said he lived his 27th year in honor of his older brother Moose, who died at age 27. He called 2025 “a wild ride,” one that included his Idol audition.
* He has an impressive voice on his serious covers. Check out his version of Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song” below. He also impressively covers songs by female artists, including “Feeling Good” and “She Used to be Mine.”
