His audition: William Alexander, 16, of Staten Island, N.Y., performed “Ceilings” by Lizzie McAlphine. Chance started nodding his approval as soon as he heard William singing. He has a nice clear tone. As he hit the chorus, both Chance and Reba turned. The song swelled. So did William’s vocals, but he couldn’t quite entice another coach to turn. Shay called his tone phenomenal. Dan said his performance kept getting better. Chance says he showed great vocal control and has a unique sound unlike anyone else on Season 25. Reba called his voice “a beautiful gift.” William decided to join Team Reba.

* He’s a teenager and student at Susan E. Wagner High School in New York with an extensive background in musical theater.

* His Instagram features photos of him portraying Jack in a production of “Into the Woods” and Emmett Foster in a production of “Legally Blonde.”

* He’s also a member of the school chorus and had one of his most memorable performances last October at Carnegie Hall.

* Wiliam was one of nine Wagner High School students selected to perform with New York Pops at a show called “21st Century Broadway” and focused on young talent.

* William began singing in church at age 8, according to a Staten Island Live article on the fact that he’d performed the national anthem at an NBA game between the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz.

* He also performed “America the Beautiful” at the U.S. Open in 2018 and 2019.

* And in 2017, he was named Child Star of Tomorrow at the Apollo Theater in New York. Steve Harvey hosted during William’s first performance at the theater; it came as part of a Showtime at the Apollo show.

* William told The Voice his parents are from India and began putting him in talent shows when he was young.

* He dedicated his blind audition performance to his late grandfather, who William called one of his biggest supporters.
