Remember Mikalah Gordon, who finished 11th back on Season 4 of American Idol?
This weekend, she was in a competition of a different sort — The Miss California USA pageant.
Mikalah represented the Huntington Beach area in a pageant that featured more than 200 contestants.
The win on Sunday night went to Mabelynn Capeluj, Miss Greater San Diego.
“I might not have won tonight,” Mikalah messaged via Instagram, “but I definitely didn’t lose. It’s been an amazing journey. I proved to myself tonight that no one can tell me I can’t. I can and will be EVERYTHING.”
On her to-do list — making a debut album. On Facebook, she says she’s currently in the studio working on one.
“I’m calling it a mix of the late great Amy Winehouse and Grace Potter,” she writes.
Since Idol, Mikalah has worked as a co-host for “American Idol Extra,” as a field correspondent on “The Tyra Banks Show” and appeared on the CMT show “Gone Country.”
Oh, and today (Jan. 14) marks Mikalah’s 25th birthday; she was 17 when she appeared on Idol.
Here’s her Miss California USA intro video.
