Wow, what a week for Carrie Underwood.
She snags an engagement ring. Her Christmas special airs a second time.
Her new single is zipping up the country charts. All three of her albums show up on the Billboard 200.
And “Play On” has now officially spent more time in the top 10 on the Billboard charts than any other American Idol related release this year.
“Play On” holds the number five spot on the Billboard 200 for the second straight weeks. That makes seven weeks in the top 10 for the former number one album.
Daughtry’s second album, “Leave This Town,” spent six weeks in the top 10 earlier this year.
Now, for a complete rundown of Idols on the music charts.
Kris Allen: “Live Like We’re Dying” isn’t dying yet. The single moves up three spots on the Hot 100 this week, from 36 to 33. That’s the highest any of the singles released by season eight Idols has climbed so far.
Kris’ album also nudged upward, from 61 to 56 on the Billboard 200.
David Archuleta: Young David enjoyed a good deal of success with his “Christmas from the Heart” CD. It’s still number 11 on the holiday albums chart; number 55 on the Billboard 200 (down from 47).
Kelly Clarkson: Wonder what the next single off Kelly’s fourth album will be? The current, “Already Gone” is in slow retreat mode, dropping from 15 to 18 on the Hot 100 and to number nine on the pop singles chart.
“All I Ever Wanted,” released in March, is 143 on the Billboard 200, up from 164 a week ago.
Daughtry: “Life After You,” the second single off the aforementioned album, moves from 64 to 58 on the Hot 100 this week. The album jumps from 66 to 59 on the Billboard 200. And the band’s debut album re-entered the Billboard 200 at number 181.
Allison Iraheta: Her debut album, “Just Like You,” debuted at number 99 on the Billboard 200. This week, it plummets to number 148.
Adam Lambert: “For Your Entertainment,” the album, has fared the best of he season eight releases so far, though it dropped out of the top 10 on the Billboard 200 after only one week. This week, it’s number 29, up one spot from a week ago.
“For Your Entertainment,” the single, never caught fire. Adam’s undoubtedly hoping for better luck with “Whataya Want From Me,” which debuts at number 72 this week on the Hot 100.
Kellie Pickler: This year has treated Kellie pretty well in terms of chart success. Her latest single, “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You,” holds steady at number 23 on the country charts.
Her sophomore album is number 32, down from 29 last week.
Jordin Sparks: The former number one dance hit, “S.O.S. (Let the Music Play),” plays out of the top 25 on the club chart this week.
Carrie Underwood: In addition to being number five on the Billboard 200, “Play On” remains number two on the country album chart. And Carrie’s debut album is number 162 on the Billboard 200, up from 184. Her sophomore album, “Carnival Ride,” is number 164, up from 182.
Want more? Try the singles. “Cowboy Casanova,” single number one off “Play On,” is number 39 on the Hot 100, down from 30. The second single, “Temporary Home,” moves up from 26 to 21 on the county singles chart.
