Carrie Underwood’s first two singles off her new album “Play On” went straight to number one on the country singles chart.
Can she enjoy the same good fortune with “Undo It,” a song she says was partly inspired by some past relationships she would have preferred to
skip?
The single debuts in the top 30 on the county singles chart this week, one bright spot at a time when most Idol related releases headed in the
opposite direction.
Carrie also debuted the video for “Undo It” during a CMT special this weekend. Just in case you missed it, the video is embedded below.
Now, for this week’s roundup of Idols on the music charts.
Kris Allen: He’ll release “The Truth” as the second single off his self-titled debut album on Tuesday. In the meantime, “Live Life
We’re Dying” slips from 33 to 41 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It’s also number 11 on the adult contemporary chart.
Jason Castro: In three weeks, Jason’s self-titled debut album has slumped from number 18 to number 73 and now to number 137 on the Billboard 200. Another drop like this week’s and it will be right off the chart.
Kelly Clarkson: “All I Ever Wanted,” single number four off the album by the same name, isn’t roaring up the Hot 100. In fact, it slips from 96 to 97 this week.
Daughtry: Chris and the guys will be performing on Idol Wednesday night. Their second album, “Leave This Town,” is 92 on the Billboard 200, down four spots from a week ago.
Danny Gokey: In one of the week’s few advances, Danny’s “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me” single moves up a spot, from 25 to 24, among country singles. His album slips from 26 to 27 on the country chart and from 132 to 133 on the Billboard 200.
Adam Lambert: “Whataya Want From Me” has lost its steam on the Hot 100, falling from 13 to 18 this week. It’s number 20 among pop songs. The “For Your Entertainment” album is now number 61 on the Billboard 200, down from 53.
Blake Lewis: The former number one dance club hit, “Heartbreak on Vinyl,” is still doing well on that chart. It’s number 15, down from 12 last week.
Carrie Underwood: The aforementioned “Undo It” single is number 29 on the country charts, a five-spot jump from last week. Her last single, “Temporary Home,” is number 84 on the Hot 100, down 23 from last week. The album featuring those singles moves up from five to four on the county chart but drops from 21 to 25 on the Billboard 200.
